Lelong Editions

Galerie Lelong has long been associated with major figures in post-war art such as Joan Miró, Alberto Giacometti, Antoni Tàpies, Francis Bacon, Pierre Alechinsky, Konrad Klapheck and Eduardo Chillida, some of whom exhibited at 13 rue de Téhéran as early as the 1950s. The gallery took on its present form in 1981 under the direction of Daniel Lelong, Jacques Dupin and Jean Frémon. Other great names in contemporary art joined the gallery, including Jannis Kounellis, Louise Bourgeois, Arnulf Rainer and Jan Voss, to name but a few. Since the 2000s, the gallery has accentuated the geographical and expressive diversity of the artists it represents: Jaume Plensa, Barry Flanagan, Kiki Smith, Barthélémy Toguo, Nalini Malani, Etel Adnan and more recently Christine Safa, Fabienne Verdier, Leonardo Drew, Marion Verboom and Samuel Levi Jones.

In addition to organizing in-house exhibitions and participating in major international fairs, the gallery collaborates on numerous museum exhibitions and ensures that the works of the artists it supports enter important public and private collections. Over 200 exhibition catalogs have been published, with texts by authors such as Michel Leiris, Pierre Restany, David Sylvester, Rudi Fuchs, Yves Bonnefoy, Catherine David, Octavio Paz, Enrique Juncosa, Hans-Ulrich Obrist, Siri Hustvedt… The gallery also publishes collections of artists’ interviews and writings (Donald Judd, Louise Bourgeois, Sean Scully, Richard Serra…), and the catalog raisonné of the complete works of Joan Miró, in collaboration with the artist’s estate. The Paris gallery has a very active printmaking department. Each year, it produces new editions (lithographs, etchings, stencils, digital prints, etc.) in collaboration with artists and studios.
